It was at a beach that someone had woken up.  They... were lost.  Confused.

Where am I? They thought.

Just then, something appeared before the someone's sight.

It was...a Fennekin.

"Hey," she said. "Are you okay?"

The stranger looked at the Fennekin strangely and said, "I'm... fine..." The person then got up. "Wait, did you just... talk?  Since when did Pokemon talk?"

"Uh...since forever, I guess," the Fennekin answered. "Then again, you should know. You're a Pokemon, too."

The stranger froze. "Wait... you're kidding, right?" The stranger then walked over to the water, and looked in the reflection.  They saw a Raltz.

"AH!" The Raltz said in shock. "Since when was I a Raltz?"

"Did I miss something?" the Fennekin asked, tilting her head in confusion. "Maybe you hit your head when you fell down from the sky or something."

Hit my head...? the Ralts thought.  Realizing that he, (as he remembered his gender suddenly), didn't know who the Pokémon's name was, he asked, "Uh... if you don't mind me asking, who are you?"

"I'm Fang," said the Fennekin. "Just Fang."

You can do nicknames? the Raltz thought.

Shaking his head, he replied, "Just call me Raltz for the time being."

"Okay, Raltz," said Fang. "It's nice to meet you."

Raltz then shook himself, and said, "So... what kinda place are we?"

"You're in the Emerald Forest," Fang answered.

Of course, this prompted Raltz to ask, "Wait... Emerald Forest?"

"Yeah," said Fang. "It's called that because of how it's so green, like emeralds."

Raltz paused for a while before replying: "Neat."

All of a sudden, Fang let out a gasp.

"Oh, jeez! I just remembered something important!!" she cried.

Calmly, Raltz asked, "What's important?"

"I'm supposed to be heading down to Emerald Village!" Fang cried. "There's something important there that I have to do! Hey, why don't we go together?"

Raltz, being nonchalant, replied, "Eh, why not?"

And so, the two began walking towards Emerald Village.  Along the way, Raltz asked, "So... What type are you?"

"Fire-type," Fang answered.

Raltz replied, "I'm a Psychic/Fairy type." He then continued, "Well it USED to just be Psychic type, but after... times have passed, you know..."

"Yeah...I don't really get that," Fang said, "but I decided not to question it."

Raltz then saw sight of a weird building in the distance, and asked, "What kind of place is that?"

"Oh! We're here!" Fang piped up.

Raltz walked up to the building, and looked at the sign. "Krookodile... Guilds?"

"I hope I'm not too late!" Fang said.

Raltz spoke up. "I'm sure that this Krookodile guy is actually reasonable, but just rough and intimidating."

With that, they stepped forth on to a grate, and heard a voice from below. "Uh, who are you?" The voice said to Fang.

"Huh?" Fang muttered, questioningly as she looked around. "Who said that? Who's there?"

A Diglett popped up. "Don't mind him," he said. "That's Krokorok, one of the sentries."

The voice beneath spoke up. "Yeah, that's fine.  I see that you're a Fennekin."

"Yeah," said Fang. "I'm Fang, and this is Raltz."

The crusty voice below replied, "Oh, sure.  You realize that the Raltz in question would actually have to step on the grate, right?"

Raltz walked over. "I got this."

Fang nodded her head and smiled.

Raltz stepped on.  The crusty voice replied, "Clear." The gate opened up.

Raltz looked at Fang. "Shall we?" He asked.

"Yep!" Fang said with a grin. "Let's do this!"

And so, Raltz and Fang went through the gate, and went down the stairs and found themselves at a lobby, where upon arriving, they met a Chatot.

The Chatot said, "Welcome to Krookodile Guilds!  Here, we do our best to help others and aim to be the best like no one ever was." He then caught himself. "But of course, I'm Chatot.  And you?"

Raltz spoke up. "I'm Raltz," he pointed to Fang, "and that's Fang, a Fennekin."

Chatot beamed, then said, "So what brings you to this Guild?"

"I came here to join up with the Krookodile Guilds!" Fang exclaimed.

Raltz spoke up. "Well actually, since I'm here, I guess I'll be joining as well."

Chatot beamed again. "Well then, just sign here, and I'll bring you to the Guildmaster himself.  Don't worry: he's actually nice when you get to know him."

Raltz spoke up. "How is it that a Krookodile, of all Pokémon, became a Guildmaster?"

"Who knows?" Fang asked.

And so, they entered the Guildmaster's room. Once inside, they found a Krookodile, standing before them, his arms crossed and his eyes closed. Sitting besides him are an Espeon, a Klefki, a Sableye, and a Sandshrew.

"...Are you Guildmaster Krookodile?" asked Fang.

The Krookodile opened up his eyes, and looked upon Fang and Raltz. "Why yes, I am indeed..." He replied in a crocodile smile.

Raltz, unaffected, replied, "So, we would like to form an Exploration Team, or whatever you call it."

"Yeah, what he said!" Fang added.

The Krookodile looked at both of them, and then replied, "Well... looks like we  have a new, shall I say, Exploration Team under our belts, yes..." He then turned to the Sandshrew. "Sandshrew, if you would."

The Sandshrew nodded, "O-Of course, sir!" He dashed all the way to get a basket, then brought the basket to Krookodile. "Is this the basket you want, sir?"

The Krookodile smiled crookedly. "Of course." He then turned to Fang and Ralts. "Listen up, beginners: You are about to become explorers.  This will not always be easy.  This will not always be fun.  And it will certainly not always be painless.  But there IS one thing it will always be: worth it in the long run."

Raltz spoke up. "Wait, so does that mean-"

"Name your team, you two." Krookodile replied.

"...Oh, crud..." Fang muttered with dread. "I didn't think of a name...!"

Raltz replied, "I, however, did." He then turned to the Krookodile. "How about... Team Alpha?"

Krookodile started laughing. "Ohohohoho... You made me laugh, you know that?"

Raltz replied defiantly, "But of course.  It reflects our eventual reach to the top."

Krookodile smiled scarily, "So you think you've got what it take, do you?" He then handed them their basket. "Team Alpha, then.  I don't think you can reach that point.  Prove me wrong.. That is my challenge to you." He then waved them off.  "Oh, and welcome to your new home."

Raltz and Fang left, quite stoked. "Is this what it feels like to be a new exploration team?" Raltz asked.

"Must be," Fang said. "My Dad used to talk about it all the time."

At the mention of her father, Fang's mood suddenly went from excited to somewhat dismal in 5 seconds.

Raltz spoke up. "I... can't remember my dad... nor my mom..." He put his hand on his forehead. "I haven't told you this, but I don't exactly remember who I am, or what I've done in the past."

"Oh...I'm sorry," Fang said, sadly. "I didn't even think about your situation."

Raltz shrugged. "Don't be." He looked at Fang. "Besides, I think we should accept a request."

"You sure?" Fang asked. "Maybe we could find a house to settle in, first."

Just then, Chatot appeared. "Actually, the both of you will be staying in what I call a 'Guild Member Barrack'.  AKA: Your room."

Raltz piped up. "Hey, how is it that, despite this being underground, that we can still see outside?"

Chatot replied, "Well obviously, this place was build in a cliff."

"A cliff?" Fang asked.

"A cliff." Chatot chirped. "Anyways, I'll have Pansage show you around now.  Tootles!" And with that, Chatot flew off.

"...Well, that's...convenient, I guess," Fang said.

Raltz asked, "So... now what?"

"Hello!"

"AAH!!" they both yelped as they turned and saw a Pansage behind them.

"I hear you two are the new recruits!" he said. "I'm Pansage! I'll be showing you to your barracks!"

"Uh...thanks," Fang said, sweat-dropping.

"Oh, yeah," Pansage answered. "I just started working here 2 days ago, in fact!"

'We might be in trouble,' Fang thought.

"Just take us to our room, alright?" Raltz asked.

Of course!" Pansage answered. "Right this way!"

He soon sauntered off with Fang and Raltz following behind him.

***6 hours later***

"Hmm...this is odd," Pansage said. "I could've sworn the barracks were this way."

"HOW DID WE END UP AT THE JUNKYARD?!" Fang yelled.

Raltz replied, "Well I wouldn't call it 'junkyard' so much as 'messy kitchen'."

"Same difference!!" Fang cried.

"Sorry," Pansage said. "Like I said, I just started working here, but I'm still trying to get my bearings around here."

'That or you have no sense of direction whatsoever,' Fang thought with a tick mark on her forehead.

Raltz replied, "I don't know why you guys are having such a hard time looking for the barracks." He pointed to the barrack hall. "Our rooms are right there."

Pansage sweatdropped. "Whoops."

Fang slapped her paw against her forehead in exasperation.

Raltz said, "Say, when is dinner coming up?"

"Yeah, I'm starved," Fang said.

"Oh, dinner will be ready soon!" Pansage said. "In the meantime, please make yourself at home."

Raltz began looking at the basket. "Hm..." he hummed. "I wonder what's in there..."

"Don't know," Fang shrugged.

Raltz spoke up. "Well let's open it up and see, then."

"After you," Fang said, gesturing to the basket.

The first thing the two pulled out was a deep blue ribbon.

"Ooh, this is cute!" Fang said.

Raltz pointed to some pins. "What are those?"

"Huh?" Fang muttered before she looked at the pins. "Oh! I think they're our new team badges!"

Raltz put a pin on himself. "I think it's official: We're a team." He pulled out a map. "Naturally, we'd also have a map."

"Really?" Fang asked. "Wow! We just started today, and already, we're getting the kit and kaboodle!"

Before Raltz could reply, he remembered Krookodile's words. Prove me wrong. "The game is afoot for the both of us now..." Raltz said.

"Huh?" Fang asked. "What do you mean?"

Raltz replied, "Krookodile has given us the benefit of the doubt to become an amazing team.  Or, as I like to call it, an incentive."

Before Fang could reply, a Chingling sang out, "Dinner's ready~!"

"Oh, sweet!" Fang chirped. "Let's go, Raltz!"

And so, after a feast of Apples and many other treats, Raltz and Fang were full, so they decided to head over to their bunker.

Upon trying to rest, it began storming outside, causing Raltz to wake up. "Oh, crud!" He then saw that it was just storming outside. "Man, it's raining like crazy..."

"I know," said Fang, looking out the window.

Raltz asked, "You couldn't sleep either?"

"...Not really," Fang replied, resting her head on her pillow...as she started to hear voices in her head.

"You think you'll be an Explorer? Grow up."

"You'll never amount to anything Fang, and you know it! You should've stayed home!!"

Raltz then noticed that tears were falling from the Fire-type's eyes, but she didn't seem to notice herself.

Raltz still had that one thought in his head: "I don't think you can reach that point.  Prove me wrong."

Raltz spoke up to Fang, "Fang, I don't know about you, but I get the feeling that Krookodile's words of 'proving him wrong' weren't just for me, but for you as well."

"How do you know?" Fang asked, looking at him.

Raltz replied, "I don't know why, but I feel like you've been discouraged from being an Explorer in the past, correct?"

Fang didn't speak. Instead, she turned her head away.

Raltz decided to stay quiet about the matter, and laid down. "When you feel like talking to me about that, let me know, alright?" He then yawned. "G'night..."

"...Goodnight," Fang said.

An original collab story between me and :iconego-man25:. Ego's the Raltz, who is the main character, and I'm Fang, the Fennekin. At first, I was gonna be a picture, but as much as I love it, it's a little overrated. ^^;
