Subseed Outpost Construction

 “Zzzzzzz…!”

 “Alexis! Wake up!”

 “Zzzzzzzzzz…!”

 “Alexis~! Yoo-hoo!!”

 “Zzzzzzzzzzzzz…!”

 “…I have snacks.”

 Alexis jolted awake and lunged at Daniel and pinned him to the grass with near murderous intent.

 “WHERE?!” she questioned, ropes of drool dangling from her lips.

 “I-I don’t have any!” Daniel answered. “I only said it because I knew that was the only thing that would wake you up!”

 “Oh,” Alexis muttered. “In that case, I’m going back to sleep.”

 “No, wait, Alexis!” Daniel said. “Don’t go back to sleep! Remember? We’re waiting out for Luke and two other teams so we can begin construction on the outpost! That’s why we stayed here by the stump while Gavina went to go get him, remember?”

 “Oh, yeah,” Alexis yawned. “So what’s taking him so long?”

 “G’day, mates!”

 Team Inferno looked up to see Luke, carrying pieces of lumber along with two other teams following him: The Syndicate, consisting of Capone the Scyther and Nikola the Dragonair, and The Comet Broz, consisting of Nazz the Bunnelby and Kit the Dedenne.

 “Hiya, Luke!” Alexis greeted, eagerly.

 “Well, someone looks a bit excited,” Luke noted. “So, ready to get this job started?”

 “Sure am!” Alexis said.

 “I’ll help, too,” Daniel added.

 “How are you gonna help?” Capone asked.

 “Simple! I’ll supervise!” Daniel answered, which earned a rather disapproving glare from his peers, causing the fox to shrink nervously.

 “I-I mean…I’ll do the hammering,” he said, trying to correct himself.

 “All right! Let’s do this thing!” Alexis said.

 And so, the construction of the outpost began.

 Capone used his X-Scissor attack to chop the lumber that Luke had brought, while Nikola and Kit passed the wood to Luke, who passed it to Alexis and Daniel, who would put nails in the wood while Nazz hammered it all together with his ears.

 “This is coming along great!” Nazz said as he kept hammering the nails in the wood. “So far, no one’s gotten hit with a ham-”

 BANG!!

 “YOWCH!!”

 Nazz looked up and saw Daniel, sucking on his left front paw, which throbbed painfully.

 “Oh…sorry, dude,” Nazz said.

 “It’s cool…!” the Shiny Vulpix whimpered in pain.

 After getting Daniel’s paw wrapped up, they continued their work. As they did, Alexis noted that Luke seemed to be getting a little bit tired.

 “Uhh…Luke?” the Growlithe asked.

 “Eh?” Luke muttered.

 “You okay? You look a bit worn out,” Alexis said.

 “Ah, nah,” the Swampert said. “I’m fine! Really! You don’t gotta worry about me, mate!”

 “You should probably take a break, big guy,” Alexis said. “I mean, you don’t wanna overdo it, now do ya?”

 “Well…I guess,” Luke said.

 “We can handle it from here,” Daniel reassured. “Really.”

 “Well…come to think of it, I didn’t get very much shuteye last night,” Luke said. “Why not? I guess I’ll take a little breather! Ta, mates!”

 “No problem, bud!” Alexis said with a broad grin.

 With that, Luke yawned and went go to take a little snooze against a nearby boulder.

 “So, now that that’s settled, shall we continue?” asked Daniel.

 “Sure!” Alexis said as she went to help the other teams continue with construction.

 “Yo, Luke! Wake up, dude!”

 “Ngh…eh?” Luke mumbled as he woke up.

 “We’ve finished it, Luke!” Alexis said. “Wake up and see for yourself!”

 Luke yawned before he stood up and went over to the outpost…and gasped at the finished result: a hut that was shaped like his head. It even had the hat and necklace!

 “Wow!” Luke exclaimed. “You guys do good work!”

 “Well, of course we had some help!” Daniel said. “Right, guys?”

 “Right,” the other two Explorer teams answered.

 “Hehehehehe…!” Alexis laughed. “So, now that we’ve finished this, what’s our reward?”

 “Well, you get a merit for convincing me to take a little break,” Luke began…before he held up a Swampert plush in his likeness, “and you also get this!”

 Alexis gasped before she reached for the plush and held it, happily.

 “Aww, Luke~!” she cried. “It’s so cute and it looks like just like you~!”

 Daniel’s ear twitched and he snorted with a slight hint of jealousy.

‘Maybe I should ask for someone to make a plush doll of me,’ he thought.
